Facebook ads can be a powerful marketing tactic for companies for the holidays. Ads can be used to increase page fans, as well as generate quality traffic to offsite product pages. If your plan for the holidays is already in action (as it should be) you may be now planning for optimization or expansion tactics that can leverage every possible seasonal opportunity once holiday shopping engagement is in full swing.

Here are a few of my favorite insights to leverage.

1 -Shoppers: watch for the gifts they give themselves

Serious shoppers are always keeping their eyes open for the perfect gift for themselves. With deals and coupons commonplace, how can they not? Some products and services, such as shoes or furniture, are holiday-compatible but not directly purchased as gifts for others such as shoes or furniture. Look for additional opportunities to reach these shoppers with interests with demographic targeting focusing on your key buyers.

2- Moms are social; take advantage!

A 2013 Social Mom Report compiled by Baby Center with Baby Center and Comscore found that moms are more social online and spend more online than the general population. Facebook could be a perfect place to meet them.

Did you know there’s category targeting for parents with children in different age groups? The possibility to mix and match targeting strategies is unlimited. Under “Gender,” select women to reach those moms!

3- Use exclusive Facebook promotions

Despite millions of users on Facebook, the social network still has “members” connected together. Attract attention to your product by creating a mind-blowing promotion or discount only for Facebook users. The ads copy should reflect the exclusivity of the offer “special for Facebook users,” as should the landing page.
