It is both exciting and humbling to be recognized on the 2021 Inc. Magazine’s Best Workplaces list. As I wrote earlier this year, when we were named to Ad Age’s Best Places to Work (2021), it is especially meaningful to be recognized during a time in which we have all been challenged and stretched in so many ways.
I’m incredibly grateful and motivated by the hard work of the entire 3Q team – credit is due to all 3Qers for being recognized through this award. Building a great culture and supporting an increasingly diverse, fully remote (soon to be hybrid) workforce requires a lot of thought and intention – not just by our People and Leadership teams, but by every person in the organization.
But it’s also humbling, because we know there is still much work to be done. Building a great place to work is a never-ending journey, and at 3Q, it is driven by our core values:
Accept No Limits: We believe that whatever we are doing, even when successful, we can do better. While Best Places to Work awards and high eNPS results show that we’re doing a lot right, we are constantly seeking feedback from our team through surveys and check-ins to understand where we can do better. We are excited to be launching ERGs this year that will help us further understand our blind spots and guide us in making 3Q even more inclusive.
Act for the Greater Good: One thing that makes me especially proud of 3Q is how helpful and collaborative our entire team is. We do a great job of bringing in smart, ambitious, hard-working, talented people who have a strong desire for growth – but not at the expense of others. This lack of ego and desire to help others is critical to sustaining our culture through continued strong business growth.
Be Inclusive: I was thrilled to see “inclusive” highlighted as the top word 3Qers used to describe our culture for Inc. Magazine. Over the past year, we’ve challenged the whole organization to get out of our comfort zones and have some frank conversations about topics that aren’t always discussed at work (racism, politics, religion, to name a few). We began to confront our own biases and we pledged to do better, not just as peers, but as friends, neighbors, and community members.
Own It: We acknowledge that there is still work to be done: in creating additional career paths and growth opportunities, in ensuring all managers are leading with empathy and creating a psychologically safe space for their teams, in enabling our employees to work smarter (not harder) through improved process and technology, and in continuing to evaluate our total rewards program to address the varied needs of all 3Qers.
In line with our values, we will celebrate the great teamwork that led to this recognition, while we continue to push forward, challenge ourselves to do better, and #acceptnolimits!
