When I first joined 3Q in the fall of 2019, we had a set of company values that had been in place for over five years, through an acquisition, a company buy-back, a major growth investment, and rapid expansion into a company with 10 locations, including Dublin and Singapore, and over 300 employees. To put it mildly, some renovations were in order.

Early in 2020, a select group of 3Q leaders began working with Eos to identify and develop a refreshed set of company values. The project took longer than we anticipated because of the tectonic shifts caused by a global pandemic and because of a newly launched (and overdue) commitment to building Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion, but we introduced them to the team earlier this month, along with a vision of where the agency is going. Now, having taken over as CEO in July, I have the responsibility of making sure we live by these values every day.

Without further ado, the new 3Q values are:

Own It

We are accountable: to ourselves, to our teams, to our clients. We are proactive, we communicate clearly, and we follow through. This means that we hit deadlines; we address and account for mistakes as soon as we discover them; we acknowledge when we can do better and assertively pursue improvement; and we seize initiatives with both hands. It also means, especially in 2020, that when we recognize we can’t do everything, we own the need to raise a hand and ask for help.

Act for the Greater Good

We lead with empathy and teamwork. During good times and bad, we are committed to supporting each other, our clients, and our communities. I can proudly say that 3Qers have lived this value in many different ways in 2020: we’re covering for each other when times get tough; we’re supporting a handful of non-profit organizations with digital marketing help as part of our 3Q3% initiative; and we’re going the extra mile to look for opportunities to improve performance and build growth for each and every client.

Be Inclusive

We value everyone’s ideas and opinions. Our hiring, communications, and promotions practices reflect our belief that diverse perspectives continue to push us and our clients to find new ways to lead. This covers all dimensions of difference: race, gender identity, age, parental status, ability, sexual orientation, and more.

Accept No Limits

We are intellectually curious and resourceful. We constantly challenge the status quo to find or develop innovations that drive breakthrough opportunities. We proactively work to discover or develop the next big market advantage for our teams, our company, and our clients. We commit to telling truths, breaking barriers, and disrupting. Accept No Limits is our “disruptive” rallying cry to break through barriers to grow personal, professional, and business leadership for our team and our clients.

Now that we’re aligned behind our new values, the rubber has to meet the road. Over the coming months, I’ll share how we’re operationalizing those values and living them in everything we do at 3Q – and share the stories of growth that accompany them.
