Our Humans of 3Q Accelerate series, which spotlights members of our burgeoning SMB division, continues this week with Kaylee Lucas, Digital Marketing Account Manager, out of our Charlottesville office! Get to know Kaylee below:
Explain your role at 3Q in 3 sentences or fewer:
I started as a Digital Marketing Account Manager at 3Q Accelerate in November 2017. I manage paid social and paid search accounts for my clients, most of whom are San Francisco-based tech start-ups. We are always testing something new (one of my clients was the 10th advertiser on Quora).
What sets 3QA apart from the rest of the industry?
Most countries have Independence Day, but this is the first company I’ve worked at that celebrates an Independence Day. We used to be owned by a publicly traded company before our management bought the company back on March 1, 2018. We popped bottles of champagne and ate cake. Our CEO, David Rodnitzky, had the excitement of a child on Christmas. You could tell we were taking hold of our own future and great things were in store.
If your team was a GIF, what GIF would you be?
The Michelle Tanner “You got it dude” gif:
What’s one marketing lesson you wished you had learned earlier?
I wish I had learned to think like a detective earlier. There is always a reason your performance changed – whether it’s an update to the Google algorithm, an ad copy flip, or a competitor bidding on your brand term. Embrace your inner Nancy Drew.
What’s something that makes your office cooler than the other 3Q offices? What about your city?
Our office building was originally a livery stable dating back to 1849. It used to house and rent out horses and carriages.
What has been your favorite 3Q perk/activity/event?
Nitro coffee and La Croix. Our office consumption is off the charts. We are going to have “La Croix Over Boys” custom t-shirts made. Both genders have expressed enthusiasm about the shirts.
How do you spend your free time?
I love hiking! I hiked the Pacific Crest Trail last summer and I can’t imagine anything more peaceful than being in the mountains.
What do you think is the most interesting challenge facing marketers in 2018?
I think privacy and data protection will become increasingly important in 2018. It will be a unique challenge to uncover insights about audiences while complying with new regulations.
Describe your ideal pizza. (Editor’s note: pizza is 3QA’s official reason for living.)
My ideal pizza is one I don’t have to share with anyone else.
3QA is hiring. Any tips/advice for someone trying to find a good fit? What’s the #1 reason to join 3QA?
This is a great fit if you want to learn new channels and work with fast-paced start-ups. It’s a unique job in the sense that you have to be both detail-oriented in your execution and think about the big picture with your strategy. The number one reason to join 3QA is the team. You’ll work with kind, interesting people who will challenge you and encourage you along the way.
