Our Humans of 3Q Accelerate series, which spotlights members of our burgeoning SMB division, continues this week with Abel Tesfa, Digital Marketing Account Specialist, out of our Charlottesville office! Get to know Abel below:
Explain your role at 3Q in three sentences or fewer:
I am a Digital Marketing Specialist who joined 3Q Digital in August 2017. My role is to manage paid search and paid social accounts across multiple channels including Google, Bing, Facebook, LinkedIn and Amazon.
What sets 3QA apart from the rest of the industry?
That’s an easy one, the team! Being in a smaller department everybody knows each others strengths and weaknesses. Due to this we have different team members who are experts in specific fields such as Facebook, LinkedIn or Google Shopping. You know exactly who to reach out too to help troubleshoot or help set up on a new channel you may be unfamiliar with.
If your team was a GIF, what GIF would you be?
What’s one marketing lesson you wish you had learned earlier?
Be prepared for anything to change in the industry. Digital Marketing is evolving every day and knowing new updates in channels and consumer behavior will be big wins in helping clients grow by testing new types of initiatives.
What’s something that makes your office cooler than the other 3Q offices? What about your city?
How dog friendly Charlottesville is. Everyone takes their dogs everywhere whether it be at work, hiking, wineries or even just on a casual walk on the downtown mall.
What has been your favorite 3Q perk/activity/event?
My favorite 3Q activity would have to be when we went on a wine tour. Charlottesville is home to numerous breweries, wineries and distilleries. so we decided for an office activity to rent out bus to visit some of the local wineries and enjoy some great tastings. As a wine lover this was hands down the best activity we’ve done since I joined 3Q.
How do you spend your free time?
Most of my free time is spent exercising and being active. I’ve always been a health nut, which has promoted me to get into competitive obstacle races. Training a few months then completing a 3 hour event consisting of 12 miles and 30+ obstacles feels amazing. Plus getting a free beer after all the hard work doesn’t hurt either!
What do you think is the most interesting challenge facing marketers in 2018?
The rate at which Amazon is growing. When 50% of people are starting their search on Amazon before all other channels, you want to start putting marketing efforts in that channel especially working with clients in the E-commerce industry. Diversifying your marketing efforts are key to year over year growth.
Describe your ideal pizza.
Call me old fashioned but I love getting cheese and pepperoni pizzas. That being said there is a 100% chance I will be eating both pizzas myself!
3QA is hiring. Any tips/advice for someone trying to find a good fit? What’s the #1 reason to join 3QA?
Working for 3QA is an amazing opportunity especially for those who are interested in working with smaller businesses or startups! We specialize in clients with smaller/medium budgets as compared to the norm seen in digital marketing. Due to this fact, you can really see the overall impact of our efforts to the client’s business. If you are interested in working in a face paced environment where you get to work with multiple channels and develop strategy to help a business grow from the ground up then this is the place to be!
