Our Humans of 3Q series continues this week with Tyler Cotman, Paid Social Account Manager, out of our San Diego office! Get to know Tyler below:

Explain your role at 3Q in 3 sentences or fewer:

I’m a Paid Social Account Manager. I run mainly direct response, awareness and remarketing campaigns on the major social media platforms.

What is one marketing lesson you wish you had learned earlier?

That people typically will always care more about the overall story than even the data itself. Telling a story is one of the most important parts of marketing.

Tell us about your morale associate (pet):

The Countess LuAnn is a Schnug, a schnauzer pug mix. She’s very committed to Fleetwood Mac songs, equality and biting your hands, but only when you’re on your phone.

When coworkers from other offices come to visit, what’s one thing they absolutely have to do in your city?

At least smell the ocean air!

What’s something that makes your office cooler than the other 3Q offices?

I may be biased but I think our perk events are really fun and more frequent than the other offices. A couple of my personal favorites are our St Patty’s Day celebrations, “Christmas Tree Gets Lit” tree lighting and ornament decorating celebration and most recently our Field Day out on the bay.

What’s been the coolest thing you’ve done with your unlimited PTO?

I didn’t have to travel far, but I actually went to the Oscars and watched the red carpet. It was the craziest thing I’ll ever see. Going to Mexico was also one of my favorite trips.

What 3Q initiative outside of your job description are you most proud of being a part of?

I’m on perks committee so I get to plan some of the fun aforementioned celebrations and then hype them up to the rest of the office.

What sets 3Q apart from other agencies in the industry?

We have a really amazing training team that especially nurtures people just starting out in their careers. I’ve never gotten training on best practices, especially working in social which would still be considered a “newer” media.

How do you spend your free time?

When I’m not consuming massive amounts of television/ video content or at a local coffee shop I’m mostly at the beach. Actually, I’m only at the beach. A lot of people in San Diego say they like to hike so I will say I occasionally enjoy it as well.

What do you think has been the most interesting change in the marketing industry this year?

At the moment, I think it may be the re-rise of Twitter. Twitter is my favorite social media platform as a consumer of media and I think brands are really starting to appreciate the branding value it can provide for both B2B and B2C businesses.

If you could choose any TV show or movie world to live in, what would it be?

I have so many. Obviously, Harry Potter is at the very top of the list way above the rest. Other’s would be Blue Crush (again with the beach theme), Below Deck or Real Housewives of New York.

Have you participated in 3Q3%? If so, what’s been your favorite experience?

I loved volunteering at the food bank here in San Diego. We worked together like we were this high powered assembly line to finish various projects the organization had planned for us. I’m very competitive so it felt like a team sport.

What is your next adventure?

New York City for the first time ever. I’m really hoping to go to Mexico City sometime very soon after that.
