Our Humans of 3Q series continues this week with Michaela Ferowich, Display Account Manager, out of our Chicago office! Get to know Michaela below:
Explain your role at 3Q in 3 sentences or fewer:
I am a Display Account Manager in Chicago. On the display team, I execute and provide strategic recommendations for our clients that run programmatic display, connected TV, and audio campaigns.
What’s one marketing lesson you wish you’d learned earlier?
Do the math! It’s more than a 3Q core value; it’s definitely a way of life in the marketing world. Our clients are very performance-driven, and it is imperative to do the math so that you can tell a better story. When telling your client a story, it’s better to have the numbers to back up the facts than to just make an overall generalization. And go the extra mile – it’s always worth it.
What sets 3Q apart from other agencies in the industry?
The culture! I know that’s cliche to say, but 3Q is special because of its people. Wherever you are in the country, people are happy to help, willing to answer questions, and get to know you as a teammate and individual.
What’s something that makes your office cooler than the other 3Q offices?
While we can’t really brag about the weather like San Diego or San Francisco, Chicago is still the best. We’re extremely friendly. We enjoy blasting music over Sonos throughout the office, eating lunch together on Thursdays in the kitchen, and grabbing a beverage from our beer fridge during happy hour. We’re a work-hard, play-hard group, and we can get along with just about anyone!
When co-workers come to your office to visit, what’s one thing they absolutely have to do in your city?
It’s hard to pick just one thing! Sophia Fen from San Diego just visited me this January; we went to Restoration Hardware’s 3 Arts Cafe and the Sky Deck at the Willis Tower. Restoration Hardware has the cutest cafe and the Sky Deck has amazing views of the city. You also can’t come to Chicago and not try Lou Malnati’s deep dish pizza.
What 3Q initiative outside of your job description are you most proud of being a part of?
I love helping out people on their first day with the 3Q Buddy program. Being a ‘buddy’ to a new teammate is a great way help someone ease into a new job and office. I’ve loved getting to know new people on all different teams and making them feel at home in our office.
Tell us about your morale associate (pet) if you have one.
I don’t have my own dog (though I really want a Bernese Mountain Dog). My parents have a pom, Hampton, whom I consider my morale associate. He’s super tiny but has the biggest personality.
What’s the coolest thing you’ve done with your unlimited PTO?
In May 2018, I went to Maui with my family. It was a great way to disconnect and get some sun after a long Chicago winter.
Have you participated in 3Q3%? What’s been your favorite experience?
The Chicago office volunteered at a local senior center and played bingo with all the seniors. It was a blast!
How do you spend your free time?
I enjoy checking out new bars and restaurants, traveling, going to SoulCycle, and going to Chicago Cubs games.
What do you see as the most interesting change in the marketing industry or your channel over the past year?
Being on the display team, I’m excited to see programmatic media become a larger player in media plans. We are seeing that advertisers are moving their media dollars from traditional advertising (TV, radio, print) to digital. As programmatic starts to become a ‘must have,’ it should be an exciting year to see how our partners will continue to evolve and adapt.
If you could choose any TV or movie world to live in, what would it be?
The Office, hands-down.
