This is the subhead for the blog post
Our Humans of 3Q series continues this week with Becca Debono, Associate Director of Creative Strategy, out of our San Diego office! Get to know Becca below:
Explain your role at 3Q in 3 sentences or fewer:
I get to work across our media and creative teams to ensure all ad creative used in our social media campaigns is on-strategy. My day consists of writing creative briefs and ideating new creative tests for clients.
When coworkers from other offices come to visit, what’s one thing they absolutely have to do in your city?
Hike Torrey Pines. Amazing views and the hike ends on a beach. Can’t lose.
What’s something that makes your office cooler than the other 3Q offices?
The San Diego office recently got kombucha and cold brew coffee on tap and I am obsessed.
How do you spend your free time?
I love to use my paddleboard and hike, and I’ve recently started to realize that I’m a pretty good cook, so that’s my latest hobby.
Exhibit A: This amazing breakfast I made last weekend (yes, that is sweet potato avocado toast).
What do you think has been the most interesting change in the marketing industry or in your channel this year?
Not necessarily brand new, but I think the continuous rise in brands using video to tell stories is astounding. I read the other day that by next year 80%, of the content brands produce will be video.
If you could choose any TV show or movie world to live in, what would it be?
I love the little town that The Gilmore Girls was set in.
Tell us about your morale associate (pet, if you have one)
Lexi’s hobbies include playing frisbee on the beach and barking during my conference calls. Her favorite food is scrambled eggs. She also has a spot on her side that looks like a heart <3
If you were given an unlimited amount of money to invest into one upcoming or exciting marketing technology, what would it be?
Probably automation. Anything to make processes more efficient.
What’s been the coolest thing you’ve done with your unlimited PTO?
As I’m writing this, I’m visiting my family in Michigan to surprise my dad for his birthday! But probably the coolest thing I’ll do will be my trip to Europe next spring. I plan to spend a few days in Malta, where my grandparents are from.
What sets 3Q apart from other agencies in the industry?
I think 3Q is an awesomely unique agency, but probably my favorite differentiator is in one of our core values, “Treat everyone like a client.” People really take that to heart here and it definitely makes a difference when you approach every situation with that type of mindset.
What’s one marketing lesson you wished you had learned earlier?
That there usually isn’t just one correct way to do things.
Throughout your career, who have been some of your biggest muses, supporters, and role models?
I had a marketing teacher in high school who was super passionate about her job and really piqued my interest in advertising. That same teacher encouraged me to compete in a marketing competition that I ended up doing really well in. I chose my major based on that competition experience, and the rest is history! Oddly enough, my partner in that same high school competition also ended up in a career in marketing, and we worked right next to each other in the same department at my first ad agency job out of college. That friend was a big influence in my career when I was starting out and the reason I chose to focus in social media.
What’s your favorite gif?
Because it’s so relatable.
