This is the subhead for the blog post
Our Humans of 3Q series continues this week with Adam Lester, Director of Business Development…also known as “The Machine”, out of Phoenix, Arizona! Get to know Adam below:
Explain your role at 3Q in 3 sentences or fewer:
I run the lead generation process and outbound new business engine for our national sales team. I am tasked with getting 3Q Digital in the door with new brands or companies, RFPs or agency reviews, Marketing + Event + Whitepaper follow-up, Nurture Campaigns. Additionally, closing new business deals within single-service lines such as SEO and CRO.
What’s one marketing lesson you wished you had learned earlier?
There is no silver bullet or cookie-cutter approach that you can simply implement and solve a universal problem or ask. As marketers, we have to put in the time and dedication: looking past surface-level data, immersing ourselves in the brand (acting as the client or customer – what is most important to them, NOT YOU!). From there, you’ll find the best solution.
What sets 3Q apart from other agencies in the industry?
It’s certainly cliche, but it’s the people. The team at 3Q is the straw that stirs the drink! Throughout my career, I’ve been with other digital agencies and marketing companies, none that have the roster of A+ players 3Q Digital does (all of whom are willing to go the extra mile to accomplish the greater goal)!
What’s something that makes your office cooler than the other 3Q offices?
Considering I work remotely from my home office in Phoenix, I do consider it pretty cool. I love the flexibility, being able to scream in frustration, stress (or excitement), and working in my PJs on Monday after a long weekend!
When coworkers from other offices come to visit, what’s one thing they absolutely have to do in your city?
To those folks in our East Coast offices, come in the winter; it’s usually a balmy 65 degrees and sunny! Also, if you are a baseball fan, Spring Training is where it’s at; grab an adult beverage, relax, and watch your favorite MLB team!
Tell us about your morale associate (pet: if you have one).
I actually have three, all of them inherited when I got engaged and married. Growing up as a dog owner, I’m still not over the shock of having three cats, though i’m starting to get used to it – such different personalities!
What’s been the coolest thing you’ve done with your unlimited PTO?
I have to be honest, I don’t take as much PTO as I would like. I consider myself a workaholic, however I did spend time in Sedona, hiking Bell Rock and Devil’s Bridge, also heading back to Columbus, Ohio, for an Ohio State Football game.
What’s the last thing you did with your perks budget?
I was a good husband, used it for date night with my wife – one of the last we’ll be going on for quite some time, as my wife is due with our first child on November 12th.
* Update: The newest Lester family member is here! Welcome to the world Greyson!
How do you spend your free time?
Recently, most of my free time has been prepping for the arrival of our first child, a baby boy. Outside of that, most of my time is spent with friends and family. I’m a die-hard Ohio State Football fan – along with all things Cleveland sports-related. I’m also a gym and fitness junkie and I love going to concerts and EDM shows, and traveling.
What do you think has been the most interesting change in the marketing industry or in your channel this year?
It dates back to further than this year: the continuing trend with mobile and smart phone domination. It’s amazing how much our day-to-day lives rely on and revolve around mobile devices and smart phones. In the USA in 2017, 70% of all total minutes spent online were with a mobile device!
Who do you find inspirational and why?
My parents. They are the hardest-working people I know, business owners, both still working into their 60s. They instilled those values in me from day 1. I wouldn’t be where I am today without them.
