The Most Influential SEM Tournament has moved into Round 2, with 32 world-class names advancing and over 9,000 votes cast!

There were some seriously tight pairings, and we bid farewell to some valiant contestants, notably:

Jerry Yang, who tumbled in an upset to SEOmoz’s Joanna Lord

– Marin Software’s Chris Lien, who fell to the hard-charging Craig Danuloff

Ian Lopuch, who almost closed the gap and caught Shoemoney (Jeremy Schoemaker)

John Battelle, who lost the round’s closest battle to Joseph Kershbaum

Laurie Sullivan, who couldn’t hold off Lisa Raehsler

Matt VanWagner, who came a handful of votes shy of Matt McGee

Pamela Parker, who was BARELY edged by Pamela Lund in a namesake standoff

Pat East, narrowly outpointed by Patricia Hursh

Perry Marshall, toppled by Rebecca Lieb

Vote now through Wednesday at noon PT to determine the Sweet Sixteen! Round 2 features a host of intriguing showdowns:

– David Hughes of The Search Agency vs. our own David Rodnitzky in a battle of agency CEOs

– Andy Beal vs. Barry Schwartz (whose pen is mightier?)

– SearchEngineLand titans Chris Sherman vs. Brad Geddes

– SearchEngineLand titans, part II: Greg Finn vs. Greg Sherman

– …and part III, Mona Eleissely vs. Matt McGee

– Jeremy Schoemaker vs. Round 1 Cinderella Lord

– Round 1 survivors Hurst vs. Lund

As always, vote early and vote daily! May the best SEMs advance.
