Take some time today to get to know Adrienne Abrams, Sr. Director of Creative Services at 3Q Digital, working out of our San Mateo office.
What is your favorite advertising campaign?
I love the Gap TV ads featuring famous musicians – Alexa Ray Joel singing “Piano Man” is pretty great. Over the years, I think Gap has had many really good ones. They definitely have made an impact and have compelled me to watch to the end.
What one quality do you think is most important in successful digital marketers today?
Look at the big picture. Sometimes we get stuck in our little world, but there is so much out there. It’s important to look at your marketing program holistically. All the pieces are connected, and it’s critical to understand how they all work together – and how different components impact each other.
Care to share your favorite spot to work from home?
I don’t like to sit in one place, so I tend to work from various places in my house. However, I think what makes me happiest working from home is getting to look outside at my backyard every day. I feel so lucky to be living in the Bay Area – you really can’t beat that view. When it’s cold and snowy in other parts of the world, I just marvel at the beauty.
What does 3Q’s culture mean to you?
This is huge for me. It’s not necessarily all the day-to-day perks (though those are nice). It’s how we are treated. When people ask what I like most about 3Q, I always answer that I’m treated like an adult. We are expected to be accountable and to get the job done, but it’s not about face time – it’s about getting your work done. Being able to work from home or unlimited PTO are just byproducts of this culture.
Which 3Q value do you most embody, and how do you embody it?
Either own it or act for the greater good. A lot of what I do is behind the scenes and ensuring we (the creative/CRO team) are getting the job done. I guess that’s acting for the greater good – ensuring that we get it all done. I also like to think that I own it. Dropping the ball isn’t an option, so we really own whatever it is. That doesn’t mean actually doing all the work myself (our team is really awesome), but it does mean managing all the parts and ensuring not only that we meet our deadlines, but that we perform up to 3Q’s standards.
If you had to switch offices, which office would you pick and why?
New York. It is one of my favorite cities in the world. If I was at another stage in my life (read: no kids) I would move in a heartbeat. But alas, our life is in the Bay Area, so I am not moving anywhere. Having an office that is close to home is a necessity for me. Having a local office to my house has been amazing; it’s allowed me to be a part of my kids’ school life without sacrificing a good chunk of my workday.
What trips have you gone on/do you plan to go on with your unlimited PTO?
My husband and I did a great trip to Italy to celebrate our 10-year anniversary! We’ve also been to visit family in Vancouver a number of times, and have vacationed in Hawaii and Mexico – we have a trip to the Big Island planned to see the volcano. Plus we have a list a mile long of other places we want to go.
What’s your favorite thing on your desk?
Pretty cliché, but school pics of my kids over the last several years. They always make me smile. I also really love my 3Q mobile phone holder.
What is your favorite thing to do outside of work?
Hmmm…I have a lot of favorite things. My family is at the top of my list…anything with them – hiking, vacationing, or just hanging out. I also love to practice Bikram yoga. I love to cook and bake. Plus, musical theater is a passion. I try to see at least a few shows a year. Oh, and go to wine country!
