Nothing about 2020 was easy. If you told me a year ago that 3Q would be where we are today, with everyone working in isolation and COVID-19 resulting in surging unemployment numbers and closed businesses, I’d have wondered how our team and clients would get through the year.

And if you told me in April 2020 that we would go on to achieve what we had achieved in 2020, I’d have wondered what kind of magic optimism pills you’d found. 

As I look back on the past 10 months in particular, I’m indescribably proud of our team for being there for each other. COVID has affected everyone’s daily lives, and the relentless care and empathy we’ve shown each other has provided countless examples of our #actforthegreatergood value and been a huge part of our success this year. I’d like to dedicate this post as one big thank-you to our team for living our #acceptnolimits mantra every day, and to our incredible clients and partners for their resilience and teamwork.

Some of the achievements that fill me with pride and gratitude:

We’ve grown. 

Despite massive economic headwinds for many of our clients, 3Q enters 2021 a bigger, stronger company than ever, having achieved all-time highs in employee numbers and revenue. Teams across the organization have spent most of 2020 pivoting, proactively problem-solving, and building new skills and processes to meet the needs of the time. Much of this is credit to our partnerships with some of our longest-tenured clients, who challenged us to stay nimble and strategic in finding new opportunities for growth.

We’ve evolved.

There are many big releases and announcements planned for 2021 that took root in 2020. Over the past year, we’ve strengthened a culture of relentless innovation, testing, and pursuit of growth opportunities, with more sophisticated processes, offerings, and products helping drive our clients forward every day. We’ve developed a set of new values that truly encapsulate who we are as an organization, and we’ve expanded our executive team to bring in new perspectives who will challenge us to keep improving.

We’re on a new journey.

Diversity, equity, and inclusion has always been important to 3Q. George Floyd’s murder was an accelerant for us to double down on our commitment to leading long-overdue change in breaking down systemic barriers in the digital marketing industry. We held monthly company-wide town halls to open a dialogue around racism in America and the ways in which we can be more inclusive in and outside of 3Q, we publicly shared our company demographics and committed to annual updates to promote transparency in the industry, and we are examining our processes and programs to ensure equity and belonging at all stages of the employee lifecycle. We were also fortunate to be in a position where we could make financial contributions to non-profit organizations helping the fight for social justice and helping underrepresented communities disproportionately affected by COVID-19. 

In 2021 and beyond, we will hold ourselves accountable to driving meaningful long-term change inside and outside of the industry. Our journey forward will incorporate an expanded scope to include all dimensions of diversity. As we evolve, our goal is to make sure that all 3Qers (including prospective 3Qers entering the job-application process) feel that their perspectives are uniquely valued. During this journey, all 3Qers’ voices will be heard to shape and refine our approach to breaking down persistent barriers.

 

To all 3Qers, clients, and partners, thank you for keeping us driving forward in 2020. Let’s achieve bigger and bolder things this year.
