Every day, advertising is becoming more and more interactive. People want to feel that the product or service they’re interested in is speaking to them on a personal level. Marketers are not blind to this phenomenon, and in the last few years we have seen a tremendous push towards YouTube as a viable ad platform. Customized videos that speak directly to the consumer about the company’s brand, product, service, or ethos have become more and more valuable in the advertising ecosphere.
This shift towards video marketing is only becoming more viable for many clients. However, one major pain point is getting a call-to-action “clickable” link into your video so users can easily browse what you’re advertising. If you’ve found yourself wondering how to incorporate a Text Overlay within your video, this blog’s for you!
First off, you’re going to want to create a campaign & ad group specifically for these ads so that you can easily track your efforts. When you have that situated, log in to the AdWords UI, click into your Campaign/Ad Group, and create a new ad. When the ad drop-down option become visible, click on the “App/digital content ad”.
When that’s finished, click on the “TrueView in-search video” option. This will prompt options for your overlay setting. Here, you will be able to: attach the video you want to associate with your overlay ad, write your ad copy, and name the specific ad.
Next step is to log into the YouTube account you’re advertising from. Go into “video manager” and click edit on the video you just associated with your overlay ad in the UI. Here you’ll notice a new tab that wasn’t there prior to the overlay creation in the UI: the “Call-to-Action Overlay” tab. Click on that tab, use the same ad copy as in the UI, and complete the process by entering an image befitting of your product, a display URL, and a destination URL. Click save, and you should be all set!
